I will start with a short history to help you understand how I started my Virtual Assistance Business. I had worked for a midsize manufacturing company for 18 years. It was a very competitive industry and our customers kept getting more and more demanding. The bank that handled our finances was also getting more and more demanding. So I guess I was not in total shock when I came back from lunch on a Thursday and was told that everyone had been sent home. As it turned out, the issues were not able to be resolved and the company closed. My wife had mentioned to me not long before all this happened about being a Virtual Assistant. It was something she had read about on line and found very interesting. So as my wife and I plotted strategy for our future I developed a strong interest in this market called a Virtual Assistant. My interest continued to grow as I investigated this market until I was at the point that I knew it was something I had to be involved in. The IVAA (International Virtual Assistance Association) definition is "A Virtual Assistant is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and or technical services. Utilizing technological modes of communication and data delivery a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis." My definition is that I am here to help with any administrative needs that my clients find burdensome and time consuming. I can help free up their time to do the things that help them grow their business or just get out of the office. I give my clients the additional help they need without any of the employee related expenses. And best of all it can all be done electronically.
